Hello Fabulous Fourth Grade Families!
Please take a moment to review what we will be covering over this week. It is important that students bring in a charged chromebook to school each day. We will be going outside every day we can, it is important that your child is dressed appropriately.
As a reminder, our P.E. period has been moved from Thursday to Tuesday. We will have P.E. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the remainder of the school year.
Below you will find what we will be doing for each subject this week:
ELA: This week in ELA we will be starting our final class read-aloud, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. We will be focusing on the author’s purpose and strengthening our reading comprehension and vocabulary. We will be having spelling words from our novel, with a test on 5-9. Please be sure to study words each night to be prepared. In writing we will be continuing writing our personal narratives. We will be working on writing a draft this week, and our final draft will be due on June 5th. In grammar we will start Unit 5, Pronouns.
Math: This week in math we will start module 20, Relative Size of Metric Measurement. Be sure to watch the videos on Google Classroom to use as a study tool. There will be a quiz on Tuesday 5-23 and a test on Wednesday 5-24. Please remember to check google classroom for reteach pages, HW, helpful handouts, and videos. Students are encouraged to practice their fact fluency each night. It is vital that students are familiar and comfortable with their multiplication facts.
Religion: This week we will continue our study of the Armor of God found in Ephisians 6:10-18.
Social Studies: In S.S. we will finish Chapter 8 as well as start our final in class project. This will be a group project focused on modern government using the book For Which We Stand: How our Government Works and Why it Matters by Jeff Foster. We will be working on this project in school and it will be due on June 12th. We will also be presenting our findings on June 12th and 13th.
Science: This week we finish our last formal science unit of Energizing Everything. There will be a science Test on Friday 5-2, a review sheet went home on 5-24 (a copy is also on Google Classroom). We will also begin our final STEAM project this week, creating a motion machine. Thank you to everyone for sending in materials to help your child complete this project, I cannot wait to see how students demonstrate their understanding of energy!
Blessings,
