Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s class notes!
Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!
Spelling- Spelling tests will begin next week. The children will be given a list of 8 words on Monday, and they will write them in their spelling notebooks (“S” book) 3 times each and study them for their spelling test on Friday.
ELA- We will continue with review work this week, and begin our first story in our Readers and learn new concepts next week. There will be reading homework assigned each night (Monday through Thursday) beginning next week.
Each lesson in our reading series has a 4-5 day plan. We read the story and go over the new spelling and vocabulary words on the first day (usually a Monday) and then we learn new concepts and work in our reading workbook each day. They should be able to read the story fluently by the end of the week.
I will send home an overview of what we are covering in ELA at the beginning of each week.
Math- We are completing the first chapter (module) in math this week on “addition strategies”. We will have the first math test on Wednesday. The children will take a practice test on Monday and I will review the concepts on Tuesday to prepare them for the test. I have sent home all the workbook pages that the children completed in math for homework to help review the concepts at home.
Social Studies- Fact/Fiction
Religion- The stories of God’s Promise to Abram and Abraham and Sarah

Please encourage your child to read every night to help strengthen his/her skills. They should be reading for about 15-20 minutes each day.
