Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week:

Spelling- As I mentioned in last week’s notes, we are spending 2 weeks on list 13 due to the Terra Nova testing. The test will be this Friday on the following words: rice, page, wedge, like, from, nice, age, ledge, ride, once. This word list is a little more challenging with soft/hard C sounds and G sounds, as well as -dge words. We will be doing many review games and worksheets this week to help remember the words.

Reading- We will continue with lesson 13 this week. The focus will be on soft sounds of c and g and -dge words. We will also learn about past and present tense endings, and review using commas in a series of words in a sentence. The children will be doing more reading comprehension assignments as well as writing stories during the second half of the school year. The reading test will also be on Friday.

Math- Continue with chapter 7: Understanding and comparing problems

Religion- Bible stories about Jesus and his disciples

Social Studies- Finish the chapter on Communities

Science- Plant Superpowers
