Welcome to week 2 of pre-k! Week 1 was a huge success! Although this year looks a little different with wearing masks and washing hands more frequently, the children have been handling everything like little champs!
Week 2 will continue with the theme Ready for School, and will focus on the topic “Making Friends”. We will read Friends at School, and A Splendid Friend Indeed. Our new vocabulary words will be: friends, play, and help.
For math we will learn about positional words such as: in, on, under, beside, and between. We will also review the color yellow, square, and number 2.
During Jesus time this week we will start learning about Creation. We will learn a fun Creation song and begin creating a book about the 7 days of Creation.
Last week we began talking about apples. We learned the life cycle of an apple; we learned that apple blossoms have 5 petals; we learned that there is a star inside an apple; and we learned that apples come in different colors. This week we will to continue to reinforce what we have learned by reading The Apple Tree’s Discovery, and this week’s Weekly Reader.
This week we will make a sunflower art project. We will also have art class for the first time with Mrs. Kerwin.
