The children spent the week learning about the season of fall.  We sang songs about the changing season and made many cute autumn crafts, including a scarecrow, acorn and different colored leaf handprints.  We discussed why leaves change color and then fall off of the trees.  The children enjoyed hearing the story, “Going On A Leaf Hunt” so much that we went out in search of beautiful fall leaves.  We came back with a bag full of different colored and different shaped leaves.  These will be used to create a leaf man next week

Next week we will learn about leaves and fall trees.  The children will make leaf crafts for our communal wall. We will read the book “Leaf Man” by Lois Ehlert and make our own Leaf Man.   We will also read the book “The Very Last Leaf” by Stef Wade. The children will make their own leaf printing press craft by painting their leaves.  We will also learn about the letter Ll for leaf.  The children will learn how to recognize and sound out the letter Ll.

Students will continue working on their fine motor skills by tracing dotted lines connecting leaves together.  For our math lesson, I will read the book “One Leaf, Two Leaves, Count With Me!”  As the children count the leaves, look for animals, and enjoy the changing seasonal landscape and beautiful illustrations, making learning to count easy- corresponding numerals reinforces the learning fun.

During Jesus Time, we will continue talking about the things that we are grateful for. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!  His faithful love lasts forever.  Psalm 118:1
