What an awesome week we had learning about the different types of apples.  It was interesting to learn about the life cycle of an apple tree.  We also enjoyed learning about Johnny Appleseed and making applesauce that we all shared together in our classroom.

Next week we will begin our science unit on transportation.  We will learn about the different types of transportation that people take.  We will learn about bus safety by listening to songs from the “Singing School Bus Driver.”  We will read the books, “Wheels on the Bus” by May Nakamura, “Cars and Trucks And Things That Go” by Richard Scarry, and “Toot Toot, Beep Beep” by Emma Garcia.

For our math lesson this week, We will graph the different ways that the children get to school each day to see which mode of transportation is the most popular.  We will make a bus craft made out of different shapes that will help the children identify and organize visual information.  The kids will be able to find and identify all of the different shapes and colors they use in their bus craft while also showing their creative side.  On Friday, the children will have fun rainbow painting with cars!

This week the children will start going to Chapel and will do so every other Wednesday.  During Jesus time, we will continue to speak to the children about God’s Creation.  We will take a walk outside and have the children point out all the different things they see that God created.  We will read the book “God Made The World” by Darisa Applewhait.
