Last week we learned about the post office and about mail carriers. We enjoyed playing in a post office pretend play center. This week, we will learn more about letter Dd, dentists and dental offices. We will explore the job of a dentist – an important community helper. We will enjoy playing in a dental office pretend play center where we will get to take on many roles from dentist to patient. We will also learn more about good nutrition and good oral hygiene. We will learn how healthy food choices help our teeth to grow strong.
We have a special visit from a dentist planned for this week! One of our neighborhood dentists will come to our classroom and teach us more about their job and about how to take care of our teeth. We will conduct the egg experiment. We will soak a hard boiled egg in soda and then scrub off the stains with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
Valentines Day is fast approaching! We will enjoy many heart activities this week as we get ready for this special day in which we celebrate love. We will use candy hearts to create geometric shapes, for counting and to sort by color. We also have a few fun Valentine crafts to complete in our Art center. Our religion lesson this week is “Jesus Gives Me Teachers to Tell Me About His Love” from FaithAlive. We will learn to sing, “Jesus Is My Valentine” and “ Praise Him, Praise Him” as well.
