Happy February everyone! Are you ready for some snow?

This week we will begin a new unit called “Imagine it, Make it”. Our first topic will be “Using My Imagination”. We will read Not a Box, The Shape of Things, and Ten Black Dots. Our new vocabulary will be: imagination, create, and pretend. We will do a few projects using our imagination including giving the children a picture of a square and having them create with the prompt “That’s not a square, that’s a…”. I will do the same with circle, and then we will use boxes to be super creative and create something that is not a box.

For math we will be reviewing “how many”, learning number 19, and continuing to practice numbers up to 19.

Jesus time this week will be “Jesus teaches about the birds and the flowers”. For the next several weeks leading up to Easter we will be learning all different stories about Jesus, His teachings, and His miracles. We will also learn a new song “Jesus is my Valentine”, sung to the tune of Jesus Loves Me.

Our letter this week is Qq. We will read “Quacky Quackers”, and sing a silly Qq song. We will also make a Q is for Quilt project.

Tuesday the 2nd is Groundhog Day so we will talk about the Groundhog seeing his shadow, learn a little bit about shadows, and make a shadow silhouette project.

This week we will also make Valentines. Then we will walk to the mailbox next week and mail them to our parents.

This month is also Black History Month so we will be learning about different black authors, and about famous black people in history. We will have a Weekly Reader about Black History Month as well.

Have a blessed week everyone and stay warm!
