Welcome back! And welcome to a fresh, new year! I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday break!
This week we will start a new unit in our Big Day Curriculum “Awesome Animals”. The first topic will be “All Kinds of Animals”. Our vocabulary words will be: animal, climb, feathers, fly, fur, scales, and swim. We will read Biggest, Strongest, Fastest, Is Your Mama a Llama, and Roar. We will look at “Let’s Look at Animals” poster and learn about animal habitats.
For math we will learn #15 and continue to practice 1-14. We will also learn to compare using the words: biggest, tallest, and longest.
Our letter this week is Mm. We will read “Merry Mouse” and learn an Mm song. We will make an M is for Mouse project.
For Jesus time this week we will talk about the Wise Men, leading up to Epiphany on Wednesday. We will then start to learn about little boy Jesus.
Our seasonal projects this month will also focus on animals and winter. We will start to talk about penguins and and snowy owls this week and we will read the book Owl Moon and make a snowy owl craft.
This week we will also start Anno’s Counting Book, which will review the months of the year and counting. The book will take about 2 weeks to read through. We will also read Chicken Soup with Rice which also reviews the months of the year.
