“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

As we enjoy our day off on Monday, let us take time to remember Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s words, and reflect on how we can be love and light. Especially in these trying times, we could all use an extra smile, an extra phone call or massage of love and encouragement. On Friday when I was teaching the kids about Dr. King, I kept emphasizing to them that it does not matter what you look like on the outside, it matters if you are a kind and loving person. God made all of us to look different, and we are all beautiful because of it.

This week we will continue our Amazing Animals theme with the topic “Creepy, Crawly Insects”. We will read Bugs, Bugs, Bugs, Over in the Meadow, and What do Insects do? Our vocabulary words will be: bug, insect, stinger, stings, wings.

Our letter for the week will be Oo. We will read “Oh Oh Octopus”, and sing an Oo song. We will practice writing the letter O and make an O is for octopus craft.

We will learn #17 and continue to practice 1-16 as we count on the calendar each morning, and count objects in Anno’s counting book. We will also practice grouping items by color, shape, and size.

For Jesus time we will learn about Jesus choosing his 12 disciples. We will learn a new song “Follow Me”.

This week we will also read the book Snowballs by Lois Ehlert, another one of my favorite author/illustrators. We will then have an open-ended snowman activity where I will give the children lots of different items that they can use to decorate their snowman, including sunflower seeds, corn kernels, buttons, yarn, pompoms, and whatever else I can find. The project is representative of the snowmen depicted in the story. It is one of my favorite projects and always comes out awesome!

Have a wonderful, blessed week everyone!
