This week begins week 2 in our Awesome Animals unit “Animal Homes”. Our new vocabulary words are: habitat, burrow, hive, nest, tunnel, and web. We will also talk later in the week about hibernation. We will read Animal Homes, Bear Snores On, and Click, Clack, Quackity-Quack. We will read the Weekly Reader “Who Lives in the Arctic”. We will also read 3 Jan Brett books The Mitten, The Hat, and 3 Snow Bears.
For math we will continue practicing 10 frames to find out “How many are there?” We will also continue with Anno’s Counting Book, practicing the seasons and counting. We will also learn #16.
For Jesus time we will continue to learn about Jesus as a little boy with the story “The Boy Jesus at the Temple”. We will also have chapel with Pastor Hopkins on Wednesday.
We will begin learning about penguins this week in science. We will learn the different kinds of penguins, especially the biggest penguin, the Emperor Penguin. We will play with some arctic animals during centers, and make a penguin craft for our door.
Our letter for this week is Nn. We will read “Noisy Newt” and learn an Nn song. We will make an N is for Newspaper project.
Monday we will be off from school for Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday. On Friday we will read a Weekly Reader about Martin Luther King Jr.
