Happy second week of February! This will be the second week of our theme “Imagine it, Make it”, and the topic will be “Tools We Use”. We will read Science Tools, and Alphabet Under Construction. Our new vocabulary will be: build, bridge, ramp, structure, and tools. We will also make our Not a Box projects which I hope will be super messy and creative!

Our letter this week will be Rr and we will read “Racing Raccoon” and learn an Rr song. We will also make an R is for Rainbow craft.

For math this week we will learn #20, and we will practice making patterns.

This week for Jesus time we will hear the story “Jesus stops a storm”, and at the end of the week we will talk about Ash Wednesday and Lent as Ash Wednesday falls on the 17th when we are on February break.

Also in preparation for President’s week we will learn about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. We will look at some Weekly Readers and some books about the presidents, and we will look at the coins and dollars that have our presidents’ pictures on them. I recently hung a poster with all of the presidents on it in the classroom and the kids have been VERY interested in knowing who all of the presidents are, so I am looking forward to a fun filled week! We will also play with Lincoln Logs and practice sorting and patterns with coins.

Next Sunday is Valentine’s Day so we will take a special trip to the mailbox and mail out Valentines to our parents. On Friday we will have a little Valentine celebration in our classroom. Please remember to wear red that day.

Have a wonderful, blessed week everyone and enjoy the break next week!
