I hope everyone had a blessed Easter and a restful Easter break. It is so hard to believe that there are only 2 months left of school! This year just seems to have flown by!
In our Big Day PreK curriculum we will be starting Theme 7 Nature all Around Us. This week’s theme will be “How do plants grow?” Our vocabulary will be: plant, roots, seed, tree, vine, flower, petals, and leaf. We will read Growing Vegetable Soup, What the Sun Sees/What the Moon Sees, Counting in the Garden, and How Does Your Salad Grow? We will also go on a Spring nature walk and see what signs of Spring we can find. Next week we will plant some different seeds and watch them grow.
We are almost at the end of the alphabet and will be learning letter Xx this week. We will read a story about X-ray X, and sing an Xx song about extraterrestrials. We will also make an Xx is for xylophone craft.
We are continuing to review the numbers and are up to the number 6 this week. We will practice simple addition to figure out “how many all together?”
For Jesus time we will hear the story of Peter and the crippled man. We will talk about the disciples performing miracles in the name of Jesus. We will sing “Oh What a Miracle” and remember what miracles we all are.
While we were on vacation our caterpillars arrived and they will soon be entering the chrysalis stage. We will learn the life cycle of a butterfly, including the vocabulary: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly, metamorphosis, and symmetry. We will also make a butterfly symmetry craft.
