This Week in Art  ~

ECC Classes will learn about the artist Claude Monet and his style of painting called Impressionism.  They will make a “lily pond” just like the one Monet painted at his home in Giverny, France.

Kindergarten:  students will enjoy making a “Leaf People” Collage out of real leaves as they practice drawing the human body using their geometric shapes.

Gr. 1:  this class will discuss the theme in Marcus Pfister’s book Rainbow Fish and will create their very own Rainbow Fish Crayon Resist masterpiece.

Gr. 2:  after learning about the art career of photography the Second grade class will enjoy making their very own Fall-themed photo frame.

Gr. 3:  will finish up their J. Miro inspired drawings this week using all kinds of repeated lines and colored organic and geometric shapes.

Gr. 4:  will be working on their Construction Paper Collage Landscapes this week after learning about the art element Space (background, mid and foreground as well as overlapping shapes).

Gr. 5:  will be creatively constructing a character out of a 2-dimensional piece of Candy Corn!  Yes, they will be using construction paper and markers to add features and details to construct a Candy Corn Character Collage.

Gr. 6:  students learned last week how to show foreshortening (drawing a person falling from or into something).  They have begun their drawings with some students depicting falling from a building, into a hole and even falling from a plane, such as skydiving.

Gr.7:  has already painted their beautifully colored sunsets using watercolors.  They will be using black paint to create a sunset silhouette picture.

Gr. 8:  studied the famous painting from Norwegian artist E. Munsh entitled Scream.  The class will be drawing a figure of a person who has a fear or phobia of someone or something, such as a fear of heights, clowns, or even dark, small places.
