We are finishing the story, Technology Wins the Game, and focusing on the target skill of Text and Graphic Features and Sequence of Events. I am not testing on this story.The Spelling words for this lesson are words that have the vowel sound as in joy spelled oy and oi. The words are joy, point, voice, join, oil, coin, noise, spoil, toy, joint, boy, soil, choice, boil, come, are, poison, and destroy. We are having the test on Tuesday, January 10th..
On Wednesday we are beginning Tops and Bottoms, a Trickster Tale. We will be focused on Theme and Point of View. The vocabulary words are risky, grunted, profit, crops, plucked, scowled, tugged, and hollered. We are also working on homophones,We will be taking a test on this story next Thursday, January 19th. The Spelling words for the rest of the week are homophones. The words are hole, whole, its, it’s, hear, here, won, one, our, hour, their, there, fur, fir, road, rode, peace, and piece. The Spelling test will be on Wednesday January 18th.
In Math we are continuing to work on division. On Monday we are having a quiz. Our chapter test will be on Wednesday, January 18th. Additionally, next week we are going to begin a new program to help build multiplication and division fluency. It’s call Rocket Math and focuses on a differentiated approach to building fluency. Each student will be working at his/her own level.
In Social Studies this week, we are focusing on Governing Canada. We will be taking extensive notes and we will have an open book test on Friday. The test will cover pages 68-71.
In Science we are focusing on adaptations that help animals survive in their environment. A chapter review will be going home next week and we will be having a test on Tuesday, January 24th.
In Religion, we are focusing on who is Martin Luther? On Wednesday, January 11th, we are having a memory test on the 4th Commandment and its meaning. Honor your father and mother. What does it mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not despise or anger our parents and other authorities, but honor them , serve and obey them, love and cherish them.
