WOW!  It’s March in 4th grade…I can’t believe it.  I’m so proud of these students, they are rolling along with our new ways of learning and doing a great job!  Before I mention more new things to come, I want to tell what a great job the class did on their Famous African American projects in February.  We had so many wonderful discussions about civil rights and African American culture, this is a well-spoken group!  Special thanks to Laila for suggesting the movie, “Hidden Figures” as another way to celebrate Black History Month!  We have also had a great time and learned so much through our Nutrition unit.  There’s still time for the kids to take the “Two Bite Challenge” on Google Classroom!

We have more exciting things coming along in March.  This is Women’s History Month and each student will be picking a career they are interested in and then finding famous women who have made an impact in that industry.  The students will be assigning the projects they designed for their classmates, beginning with an animal project developed by Anaya and Skylar.  I also have a tradition of enjoying March Madness with my students.  This is the road to the NCAA Basketball Championship.  We will find out the history of the game of basketball and follow the college teams throughout the month.  Each student will be researching a college and making a pennant with the information they gather.  At the very end of March we will be getting ready for Easter, with Bible stories leading us through to Jesus death and resurrection.  Of course we will be continuing with our regular academic subjects as well!
