Important Information

The month of February is Black History Month. In addition to the various people we are learning about on our morning announcements, in the classroom we are also focusing on famous African Americans. Last week, we learned about Jackie Robinson, Thurgood Marshall, and Sojourner Truth. This week we will focus on Frederick Douglass, Bessie Coleman, Billie Holiday, Barack Obama, and Harriet Tubman.

Valentine’s Day is next Tuesday, February 14th. We will be celebrating with a party in our classroom. If you would like to send in cards for the class, please make sure that there is one for everyone. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

Scholastic Book order forms went home on Friday 1/27. If you wish to order books for your child, please submit your order by Tuesday, February 7th. You can order on line at scholastic.com/bookclubs. The class code is GZBYH.

Some students are forgetting to bring their instruments to school for band and instrument lessons. Ms. Philbin emails the band schedule to all student usually by Thursday for the following week. Please make sure that your child brings his/her instrument to school for both the lesson and band rehearsal. For some students, that is two times a week. Should you have any questions, please contact Ms. Philbin or Mr. Stainkamp.
