It’s Healthy to Have Fun!

I was very excited when I found out that I would be working at the school I had attended.  Some of my favorite and best memories were created when I was a student at Trinity Lutheran School.  Now that I am the Physical Education teacher here, I look forward to many upcoming fun activities.

So far this year in the Middle School, we have played soccer and basketball as well as lifetime activities such as yoga.  I am happy to say that yoga was a hit!  Activities and lessons coming up include floor hockey, volleyball, softball, and more fitness/lifetime activities.
In the younger grades, we have had tons of fun learning new skills and practicing previous ones.  The students have learned how to create their own obstacle courses, tumble on the mats, and pass (bump) and set as used in volleyball using balloons.  I look forward to working on more skills such as using floor hockey sticks, the scooters, and jump roping.
What I love the most about teaching Physical Education is that I get to share how important I believe health and wellness are…and it is FUN!  Students need a time during the school day to move and be able to have fun.  There are numerous studies proving the benefits of Physical Education.  I also enjoy being a positive role model for my students.  The newest activity lately is guessing what fruits and vegetables are in Miss Plank’s morning smoothie!  I always try my best to stay active with the students and to talk to them about what I do outside of school to stay healthy – figure skating, cycling, playing basketball, lifting at the gym, etc.
I love that I can help students become more aware about activities that they may enjoy long after they have left Trinity Lutheran.  Even as adults, we all need to remember to get up, move and jump around, and to have fun…just like our kids and students.

Re-Enrollment

Re-enrollment is currently underway at this time.  The re-enrollment forms are due February 4th with a fee of $175.00.  After February 4th, the fee increases to $250. All re-enrollment must be completed by March 1 so that we can put your children into classes for next year.  We have new students also enrolling so we want to make sure our current students have re-enrolled before we can make classes for next year.  If you have decided not to re-enroll for next year, kindly advise the office of that decision as well.

There have been some questions regarding students staying for games.  The policy is that an announcement will be made the day before a game to indicate if we have a chaperone for that game. If we do, then the student must bring a written note from their parents and it must be in the office the morning of the game.  No emails, texts, faxes or phone calls will be accepted.  If there is no chaperone, then the students will not be able to stay.
